Litquake and Thursday Night Combo readings
Sunday, October 07, 2007
It's my favorite holiday of the year: Litquake. Hundreds of readings, spoken word and conversations in bookstores, nightclubs, cafes, auditoriums and laundromats. I'm just back from drifting in and out of 10 hours of readings at the SF Public Library for the "Off the Richter Scale" kickoff weekend event, showcasing more than 75 writers, including my friends Julia Scheeres, Rachel Howard and more.
Litquake closes with the best part of my favorite holiday, Litcrawl, a pub crawl-style evening of dozens of events up and down the Valencia Street corridor. I'll be reading at Ritual Roasters at the Grotto event, themed "Rejection." It runs from 8-9 pm.
I'm also reading this Thursday at the Exit Theatre's Thursday Night Combo, along with (I'm told) a musician, a magician, a comedian and other storytellers. A true variety show. Food and beer and I believe a $5.00 cover charge. It's on Eddy Street a block from Market, near the Powell Street BART station. 8:30 pm.
