Here's a really funny (and insightful) column in the New York Times by Timothy Egan on celebrity "writers" getting huge advances to write about how they made it through rehab or once lived next door to someone important. The publishing industry is laying off whole departments and not buying any new books "in these uncertain times," but Barbara Bush's dog just got a book deal?
